New Covenant Fellowship is a New Testament church with an emphasis on Biblical teaching, praise and worship, and communion. We believe that Christ is the head of the church over us, a unified body of believers.
Each service at New Covenant Fellowship, though it has certain common elements, tends to be somewhat unique. This is because we make every effort to be sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit to guide us in how the various elements of the service fit together. It is our desire to experience the manifest presence of the Lord every time we gather. Worship, which includes more than just music, is the central theme to our congregation. NCF supports 20 missionaries around the world. We host Overcomers Outreach meetings, Royal Rangers, a thriving youth group, and several other ministries including a widows and widowers ministry and an arts ministry. A brief history: New Covenant was founded by Bob Yarbrough and Robin Bayles in November of 1984. Bob and Robin were both from a Southern Baptist background and the Lord brought them together at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Manassas, VA in the fall of 1982 when Robin came to Emmanuel as the Minister of Music - Bob was the senior pastor there. Two years later the Lord led them to found New Covenant as a non-denominational, charismatic fellowship that was committed to a New Testament style of government and leadership. The founding principle for Bob and Robin was, “We only do what God is telling us to do.” In 1985 Jeff Ling was brought into the leadership team of NCF as the Youth Pastor. Jeff came from a Baptist and Episcopalian background. Jeff eventually became the primary worship leader for NCF and a gifted pastor/teacher. Carlos Dorsey was added to the leadership team in 1989 to head up our Helps Ministry that was called Concerned Christians for New Life (CCNL). These four men served together as the leadership team of NCF for 10 years. Jeff Ling answered the call of the Lord to start a new church in Centreville, VA in 1999. Carlos Dorsey and Bob Yarbrough both retired from full-time ministry in 2001. Bob and Carlos are our two Pastors Emeritus. Jim Koehnke is our other Pastor Emeritus. Jim and his wife, Donna, continue to attend NCF and work diligently with the Missions Trust. We very recently lost one of our pastors, Ken Hornby. Ken went to be with the Lord in February 2010. Ken began Theophostic Ministry at New Covenant Fellowship. You can read more about Ken by visiting his memoriam page. NCF continues to follow the New Testament model of church life with a plurality of elders and a fellowship that is committed to the Word of God as our foundation for all faith and practice. We are striving to be faithful to the mission the Lord gave us years ago, “To be a people committed to intimacy with God, intimacy with one another and extending the Kingdom of God in the earth.” Currently three men lead the fellowship. They are Robin Bayles, Bob McCaig, and Donald Ponikvar. Contact NCF: 703-361-0890 |
